I’ve been learning lately that taking pictures is 90% mental. The technical skills and button pushing is just a very small part. And even though I’m a professional wedding photographer, knowing that the person I’m photographing trusts me and actually LOVES the way I work ALWAYS helps me to get my best pictures. (Narrowing down the photos for this blog post KILLED me!) It’s just another way I’m seeing that most of the limits in our lives are actually in our own heads. (I know. I’m so deep. lol) But seriously, when you free yourself to enjoy the moment you’re in RIGHT NOW and to love the people around you, that is how you live your best life.
And Naya is one of those people who jumps at the chance for creativity, to experiment and go for the feeling over the perfect. She is such an incredibly artistic girl! Everytime I go to their house, my mind is just blown by she and her mama’s talent. I mean Naya’s room is like if Free People did interior design. So free and imaginative. So obviously I HAD to take pictures of the artist herself.
So this shoot was a total breath of fresh air. Being with such a rad young woman, and creating something that spoke to both of us. Plus I’m bringing her over to the dark side of photographing with film right now. ;) Thanks, Naya! I love all the light you brought to these pictures.
