The term ‘boho weddings’ gets tossed around a lot these days. But looking at pictures of these weddings, they’re usually anything but bohemian. The same colors, dresses, and photography style that you see everywhere. Which really is the opposite of boho. Here’s the real definition of bohemian.
adjective: having informal and unconventional social habits.
synonyms: unconventional, nonconformist, unorthodox, avant-garde; etc
So at its core, a bohemian wedding is all about free spirited, unique ideas, not just a macrame backdrop and a flower crown. Brides and grooms who don’t care about trends or rules, but go with choices that fit who they are as a couple and feel like their kind of party.
It’s so exciting to me when I can tell that my couples’ have gone their own way with the choices for their wedding. They don’t care about luxury status or what people think is cool on instagram. They let their imaginations go, whatever their budget, and have a unique, genuine wedding that feels just like them.
Whenever I can, I try to put together little shoots that show brides they really can do their wedding however they want. It can be simple and casual, bold and over the top, whatever speaks to them and their fiancé. So this shoot is all about casual surfer girl vibes. We go barefoot whenever we can, aren’t afraid of color, and messy hair is our friend. Even though it was POURING BUCKETS right before our shoot, Erika was rad and we just went with it, in true beach girl style. ;)
